Name of the Post: Navik {Domestic Branch (Cook & Steward)}- 10th Entry 02/2019 Batch

Educational Qualification Required: 10th Class with 50% marks in aggregate from a board of Education recognized by Central/State Government. [5% relaxation in above minimum cut off will be given for SC/ST candidates and outstanding sports person of National level who have obtained 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in any field sports events at the Open National Championship/ Interstate National Championship)

Physical Qualification Required:

  • Height: at least 157 cms
  • Chest: Should be well proportioned. Minimum expansion 5 cms.

Educational Qualification Required:

  1. Draughtsman: (i) Matriculation or equivalent. (ii) Two years Diploma in Draughtsmanship or its equivalent. (c) One year experience in the relevant field is desirable or Must have completed an apprenticeship or at least three years in Naval/Marine/Electrical/ Mechanical/Structural/workshop/Civil Engg drawing office or Naval Architecture ship construction.
  2. Civilian Motor Transport Driver: (i) 10th standard pass. (ii) Must possess a valid driving licence for both heavy and light motor vehicles. (iii) Should have at least two years experience in driving motor vehicles. (d) Knowledge of motor mechanism (should be able to attend to minor defects in vehicles).
  3. Engine Driver: Certificate of competency as Engine Driver from a recognized Govt. Institute or equivalent.
  4. Sarang Lascar: Certificate of competency as Sarang from a Govt. recognised Institute or equivalent
  5. Lascar: (i) Matriculation pass or it’s equivalent from recognized boards. (ii) Three years experience in service on Boat / Barge.

About Indian Coast Guard

The Indian Coast Guard is a multi-mission organization, conducting round-the-year real-life operations at sea.The Indian Coast Guard was formally established on 18 August 1978 by the Coast Guard Act, 1978 of the Parliament of India as an independent Armed force of India. It operates under the Ministry of Defence. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) protects India’s maritime interests and enforces maritime law, with jurisdiction over the territorial waters of India, including its contiguous zone and exclusive economic zone.

The Coast Guard works in close cooperation with the Indian Navy, the Department of Fisheries, the Department of Revenue (Customs) and the Central and State police forces.The organization is headed by the Director General Indian Coast Guard (DGICG) exercising his overall command and superintendence from the Coast Guard Headquarters (CGHQ) located at New Delhi. At CGHQ, he is assisted by four Deputy Director Generals of the rank of Inspector General, and other senior officers heading various staff divisions.

For effective command and control, the Maritime Zones of India are divided into five Coast Guard Regions, namely, North-West, West, East, North-East and Andaman & Nicobar, with the respective Regional Headquarters located at Gandhinagar, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Port Blair. The Coast Guard Regions are commanded by Officers of the rank of Inspector General.

The regions are further divided into twelve Coast Guard ‘Districts’, one each for the nine coastal states on the mainland, two in the Andaman & Nicobar Region, and one at Kavaratti in the Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands. Each Coast Guard District comprises of one or more Coast Guard Stations. In addition, there are Coast Guard Air Stations (CGAS) and Air Enclaves (CGAE) for air operations from various locations along the coastline.

The Indian Coast Guard’s motto is “वयम रक्षामः” (Vayam Rakshamah), which translates from Sanskrit as “We Protect”. Mr. Rajendra Singh is director general of Indian Coast Guard. 1 February is celebrated as anniversary of Indian Coast Guard. It had 15,714 active personnel, 175 vessels and 44 aircraft.
